Expertise from North American Video Helps Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs to Shine

State of the Art Video Surveillance System Created Through Collaboration Between New Casino And Industry Leading System Integrator

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs opened its doors this summer to a new $208 million gaming and entertainment facility, which was designed to meet the Company’s reputation for outstanding quality venues and services. Protecting this huge investment is a best in breed high performance video surveillance and security system from North American Video valued at over $3 million.

Construction on the new complex, located in

Wilkes-Barre, PA, started in May of 2007. The massive development, named Project Sunrise, features a casino with approximately 2,500 slot machines, upscale restaurants and an expansive retail shopping area. The 68,000 square foot gaming space includes a glamorous high-limit area with convenient access to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ live harness racing and simulcast operations.

“North American Video is very excited to be a part of the new Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs project. We recently completion the advanced video surveillance system we proposed that delivers the best in functionality and reliability,” said Cynthia Freschi, President of North American Video.

Designed, installed and implemented by North American Video, the casino’s video surveillance and security system incorporates analog cameras on a CAT5 and fiber backbone that’s IP ready for future expansion. The cameras are tied into a 700 x 48 matrix system integrated by North American Video. In addition to providing security and surveillance video monitoring of the new casino, the system will also offer coverage for the car parking structure, racetrack and clubhouse. Images will be recorded to enterprise-level digital network video recorders allowing operators to access live or recorded video from any of the twelve control stations which North American Video is installing throughout the facility.

As indicated by Ms. Freschi, completing the project on schedule was critical. According to David Zarn, Surveillance Technical Manager at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, North American Video understood this and dedicated the necessary resources to ensure the project was completed as specified.

“Their quality of work and high touch customer service throughout the installation, as well as afterward, was outstanding,” he said. “North American Video pays attention to the details and this is what makes them the best in the business.”

The new security system will be integrated with Point of Sale (POS) units and also with the facilities’ access and life safety systems. Part of the expansion also included expansion of the facility’s access control system.

“We wanted a system that would enable the Surveillance and Security teams here to provide superior guest and employee safety, asset protection, and internal service. North American Video provided us with an excellent solution that is expandable and facilitates return on our investment,” said Guy Llewellyn, Director of Surveillance at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

According to Ms. Freschi, the integrated security and surveillance system will provide a more complete picture of the facility. Additionally, the security and video surveillance system now installed at the temporary Casino, which is located in the racetrack Clubhouse, will also be integrated with the new system.
