Native H.264 support and Instant Video Lifecycle Management allows enhanced surveillance over WAN environments with dramatic savings in bandwidth and storage infrastructure costs
TimeSight Systems™ the industry leader in the practice of video lifecycle management (VLM) and the industry’s only intelligent network video recorder (NVR) software to provide automated VLM capability, announced the availability of TimeSight Version 2.8. This latest release has been designed and engineered specifically to address applications in which the surveillance deployment requires rich, high definition for video monitoring or archiving in wireless or wide area network (WAN) environments. Release 2.8 also provides enterprise-level failover capabilities for highly-sensitive security environments requiring high-availability architectures.
With Release 2.8, TimeSight has expanded native support to include the bandwidth-optimized H.264 encoding standard to alleviate bandwidth concerns for wireless and WAN-deployed cameras. In addition, TimeSight Release 2.8 will allow Instant VLM (iVLM), the ability to have a real-time ‘split stream’ of the camera’s data delivered in a bandwidth-optimized format both to a remote monitoring and recording system, while retaining a forensic-quality high resolution video stream locally. By applying VLM rules real-time as video is captured by either native H.264 or even legacy MJPEG camera streams, end users can finally realize the improved security profiles they desire despite limitations in network infrastructures.

TimeSight offers the only intelligent NVR software with automated VLM capability. VLM is the practice of reducing the size of stored video over time, according to business rules, as the video ages and becomes less relevant. The result is massive storage savings and reduced operational costs. TimeSight’s use of VLM along with its exclusive Motion Optimized Recording (MORe), makes higher resolution analog and IP solutions even more effective and affordable. MORe applies specific resolution, frame rate, and retention policies to motion and non-motion video, enabling users to store all video footage on less storage than riskier “Record On Motion” only techniques.
To allow legacy surveillance networks the ability to integrate with current technology system designs, TimeSight’s Analog Camera Environment (ACe) feature brings plug-n-play capability for existing analog cameras into an NVR, with better image quality and longer retention than currently possible on most DVRs, in a small, economical footprint. This intelligent encoding feature converts video streams from legacy analog cameras into fully digitized network video streams leveraging surveillance-optimized H.264 digital video format. ACe technology allows users with a significant investment in analog CCTV systems to migrate into a fully functional IP based video network and benefit from the practice of VLM.
