On November 18, 2009, over 100 IP security industry representatives, systems integrators and end users gathered at IP UserGroup USA's IP-in-Action LIVE Atlanta, held at the AMA Conference Center, Atlanta, GA, to discuss the economics of IP in terms of return on investment: using the latest technology to be more efficient and save money.
In the Opening Keynote, "Security Master Planning," Timothy D. Giles, CPP, PSP, President, Risk/Security Mgmt & Consulting and former Director of Security at IBM, focused his presentation on operating in today's economy. Customers want you to "Show Me the Money," his presentation title suggested.

Axis Debuts Open Application Platform for Video Analytics
The Axis Communications launch of the AXIS Camera Application Platform allows third-party development of applications that can be downloaded and installed on Axis network cameras and video encoders. Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications Inc, explains, "The platform supports video analytics applications that provide the products with intelligent capabilities such as recognition, counting, detection and tracking."

TimeSight Systems Receives $1M in New Jersey Economic Development Funding
TimeSight reports that in addition to the New Jersey EDA's investment in the company, TimeSight's Network Video Recorder (NVR) platform received two important industry awards this year: the Security Industry Association's "Best Video Device" award at ISC West 2009 in Las Vegas, NV; and the ASIS Accolades award at ASIS 2009 in Anaheim, CA.

Basler Adds Two Aviator Megapixels
Basler Vision Technologies is adding two new camera models to its Aviator Area Scan Camera Series. This series is based on Kodak's latest KAI-2050 and KAI-2150 CCD sensors. The new Basler aviator cameras feature two megapixel resolution, 1600 x 1200 pixels or 1920 x 1080 pixels, at 67 or 62 frames per second respectively. The Basler Aviators are equipped with Kodak's state-of-the-art CCD sensors and provide progressive scan readout and global shutter technology.

Through a technology collaboration with Dell, Brivo has developed an integrated, online video recorder (OVR) that brings "Video Software-as-a-Service" applications to security management in conjunction with Brivo's "Software-as-a-Service" (SaaS) access control solution. "OVR WebService is the first and only fully integrated, online access control plus video service," states Steven Van Till, Brivo President and CEO.

MOBOTIX Greets the World
More than 100 sales partners from around the world took part in the four-day conference at the MOBOTIX headquarters. Dr. Ralf Hinkel, founder and CEO, held the opening presentation, pointing out both MOBOTIX AG's concept of decentralization and some upcoming developments in high resolution video technology. In addition, the program included product workshops and sales partner presentations of selected installations.

VIVOTEK Secures Wise County Schools
Wise County, located near the coal production fields of southwestern Virginia, bills itself as, "The Safest Place on Earth." With security being a top priority and considering the unique requirements of each campus, the school district chose to use VIVOTEK for its new IP surveillance system. Distribution partners United Digital Technologies and Inter-Pacific installed the system and also used the Video Insight software platform in this application.

Dallmeier Supports José Carreras Centre
When asked by an interviewer about his stance on corporate responsibility, this is what Dieter Dallmeier had to say. "From the very beginning, Dallmeier has not only felt committed to economic success of its corporate activities. For me as the founder and head of the company it is equally important that we recognize our social responsibility". The latest release from Video Insight offers support for additional camera models including H.264 support for Axis, Sony, Pelco, and IQeye. The release also includes an enhanced Rules Manager, the ability to send cameras to another user, enhanced active directory support, layout tours, picture in picture zoom, and full screen playback. The software features easy to use map and floor plan based navigation, browser user interface, and true multi-server and multi-location support.

NUUO Becomes Security Doctor
The integration between NUUO NVR (IP+) and Panasonic IP cameras achieves a full security system for EL Zerayeen Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. The ReServ2 and the ReServ2E from Altronix provide continuous power and a smooth transition to back-up power during normal, brownout and power fail conditions.
