Axis, Genetec and IBM Deliver Security at Chicago's Navy Pier
   An advanced and integrated network video monitoring systems is being implemented at Chicago's Navy Pier, Chicago, IL. In collaboration with the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority - owner and operator of Navy Pier - IBM designed, built and implemented the project, which utilizes new high-resolution cameras with far- and wide- range viewing capabilities to add situational awareness throughout the Pier and operational assistance during an incident. At the heart of the solution is a state-of-the-art network of cameras from Axis Communications and an advanced Internet Protocol (IP)-based video recording and monitoring system from Genetec.

PIVOT3 Serverless System at Seattle-Tacoma Airport
   The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is implementing a Pivot3 Serverless Computing, including virtual servers for more than 1,100 cameras. Pivot3 Serverless Computing is the first and only clustered storage solution that simultaneously runs NVR applications on IP SAN hardware. Virtual NVRs eliminate the need for standalone physical servers and reduce the cost, power, space and failover benefits of surveillance installations.
Milestone Integration Expands Market for Analytics
    Milestone Systems announces the integration of the Vidient SmartCatch solution with the Milestone XProtect Analytics framework. The integration with the new functionality of SmartCatch 4.0 expands the market for video analytics through its unique new capabilities for both security and video business intelligence applications such as: automated self-learning false alarm removal capabilities; rail/metro safety and security applications for track and tunnel intrusion; high-traffic people counting and other operational monitoring solutions.
IndigoVision's IP-Based Solution in French Casino
   One of France's newest Casino and Entertainment centers in Toulouse, France, has deployed IndigoVision's IP video solution for its demanding security surveillance requirements. The Casino Théâtre Barrière de Toulouse includes a 1,200 seat theatre, 3 restaurants, 3 bars, 14 gaming tables and 250 slot machines. SPIE Sud-Ouest, IndigoVision's approved partner, installed the 350 camera system, which allows operators to view live and recorded video, manage alarms and to quickly search and analyze recorded video.
 
O.R. Tambo International Airport Utilizes DVTel for Security Expansion
   The O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, is undergoing a major security project upgrade, adding to an existing state-of the-art DVTel video surveillance system already installed in the domestic and international terminals. Airport officials confirmed that the new Central Terminal Building (CTB) at O.R. Tambo International will have 650 IP surveillance cameras in the building linking international arrival and departures. The DVTel intelligent Security Operations Center (iSOC) is the management platform for viewing, storing, and utilizing all camera data from the many hundreds of cameras deployed throughout the airport.
 
OnSSI Releases Upgrades to Ocularis Client Lite
 
   On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc. (OnSSI) announces the release of Ocularis Client Lite v1, an upgrade to the IP-based video surveillance management and control software suite. One of the new features of Ocularis Client Lite that can help to enhance the security of a facility is the capability to allow system operators to listen to audio from microphone-enabled cameras or to send audio to camera-connected public address (PA) systems.
PSA Security Network Vendor Management Reorganization
   PSA Security Network announced a restructuring of its vendor management department. The PSA vendor management team will now consist of Bill Bozeman, Diana Hanna, Tim Brooks, Tim Feury, Marcus Batten, Brandt Lumaguip, and Sharon Shaw. Sharon Shaw will be the vendor contact person for all PSA supplier partners.  In other news, PSA Security Network has added Videofied, a product of RSI Video Technologies, to its roster of vendors.
 
VideoIQ Receives Endorsement from the PSA Technical Committee 
 
   VideoIQ announces that the VideoIQ iCVR has been endorsed by the PSA Technical Committee. Driven by next-generation analytics, the VideoIQ iCVR is an intelligent video surveillance camera that combines automated event detection, a built-in DVR and integrated video management into a single solution. This combination delivers real-time threat detection while solving the bandwidth and storage problems of traditional IP cameras.
 
Dallmeier provides CCTV/IP system for City of Dreams
 
   A gigantic project in Macau, China, is using Dallmeier technology. Reading the description of the new City of Dreams, the project seems to really live up to its name. It is a dream city that leaves nothing to be desired. The City of Dream's main attraction is the grand casino. Additionally, the City of Dreams is referred to as one of Macau's top shopping locations.
 
Integrating Top Pelco Products
   Pelco and Fluidmesh Networks announce the successful integration of Fluidmesh wireless platforms with multiple top Pelco video products, creating an outstanding wireless video-security system. Pelco and Fluidmesh officials report that Fluidmesh technology supports multicast transmission, greatly reducing the bandwidth needed for every camer. It allows seamless integration with Pelco's Endura, Sarix, and IP cameras. In another integration partnership, the Insight Video Net's Central Management System (CMS Flex) enables a software solution that automatically manages and protects video extracted from the Pelco Endura recording systems. Pelco's Endura platform is a complete solution for high definition video encoding, recording, and display.

Bonifacio Hospital utilizes IQeye
   IQinVision announces that Bonifacio Hospital, on the island of Corsica, has deployed 23 IQeye megapixel cameras, managed by a Viseox VXCORE video management and storage system. The use of megapixel camera technology allowed the hospital to reduce by more than 50% the number of cameras needed to accomplish its surveillance objectives.
Altronix NetWay Mid-Span PoE Products Now UL Listed
 
   The recently introduced line of NetWay Mid-Span PoE Products from Altronix is now UL listed. They provide reliable and consistent power designed for standard network infrastructure and can accommodate PoE and conventional IP video cameras, as well as edge devices. The NetWay8 midspan provides eight PoE-compliant ports rated at 15.4W maximum (compliant with IEEE 802.3af). Two of the ports are selectable for 30W to accommodate higher-current IP PTZs. Easy plug-and-play installation enables safe and cost-effective power distribution over Cat5/5E/6 LAN infrastructures.
NAV Launches Transportation Security Business Initiative
   North American Video (NAV) is bringing its expertise in design engineering and service of integrated security and surveillance systems to the transportation market. The newly launched initiative will target airports and other mass transit applications. "Our decision to dedicate resources to the transportation security market is driven by the market trends we are seeing," comments Jason Oakley, Chief Executive Officer, North American Video.
 
VIVOTEK Megapixel Website Online 
   A website detailing megapixel surveillance and VIVOTEK's full range of megapixel network cameras is now online. This website, featuring VIVOTEK's true megapixel surveillance solutions, provides a comprehensive tool kit to help understand the benefits of megapixel surveillance and improve field knowledge. The VIVOTEK megapixel website also provides many useful resources for online learning and downloading, including whitepapers and video clips. 
 
Basler Introduces the Aviator Area Scan Camera Series
   With one megapixel resolution and 120 frames per second speed, the Basler Aviator cameras redefine mainstream performance. Based on Kodak's new KAI-1050 CCD sensor with a resolution of 1024 x 1024 pixels, this camera series pushes the speed barrier to a new height of 120 frames per second. Progressive scan readout and global shutter technology combined with a Camera Link data interface make the aviator camera well suited for various applications.
 
NUUO Protects Container Terminal
   The Belawan International Container Terminal (BICT) needed to implement the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code [ISPS], a post-9/11 standard requirement for International Sea Ports as mandated by the United States Coast Guard. PTZ cameras and NUUO IVS with 3GPP function allow BICT to monitor its wide area from any location. BICT choose NUUO intelligent software to secure the entry to the port, analyze video and count vehicles entering and exiting the port.
MOBOTIX Cameras Sail Twice Around the World
 
   Bernt Lüchtenborg, a former building contractor from Brake, Germany, plans to sail around the world, twice, alone and without setting foot on land - he calls his project sail2horizons. MOBOTIX is providing three cameras and an ExtIO for the project. Working closely with the log book software TripCon, the MOBOTIX cameras will record images and video on board at specific times and also during pre-programmed event triggers.

Controlware secures The Oldham College Campus
   Working with partner Telewest Business, Controlware has supplied an advanced surveillance solution to The Oldham College, Oldham, UK, that delivers improved flexibility, cost savings and video quality. The Oldham College is in the process of renovating 70% of the college's buildings on campus. Controlware offered an IP solutions that could integrate with the college's IT network and enable cameras to be quickly redeployed around the campus as building work progresses.
 
Genetec Opens Sales Office in Singapore
   Genetec announces that the company is opening a sales office in Singapore as part of its ongoing growth strategy. The Asia Pacific (APAC) market needs physical security and public safety solutions that are flexible and innovative, and the timing is perfect to start promoting Genetec's solutions more aggressively in this market, the company feels. Charles Cousins joins Genetec as Managing Director-Asia Pacific and will head the Singapore office.
 
Panasonic Updates SpecAssist Design Tool
 
   Panasonic System Solutions Company has released version 5.7 of its popular SpecAssist tool. Packed with valuable information and resources, the updated SpecAssist includes video demonstrations on Panasonic's new i-Pro Mega Super Dynamic megapixel network camera as well as the Focus Assist camera feature. The DVD provides bid specifications for Panasonic video surveillance systems products, along with CAD illustrations, operating instructions, spec sheets and calculator tools to optimize system configurations and proposals.

ioimage Video Analytics protects Kutztown's Water Storage Tanks
   ioimage products are being installed to protect the water storage tanks of the borough of Kutztown, PA. The two massive tanks, located at separate remote sites, hold up to one million gallons and serve 15,000 residents. Both tanks have been equipped with ioimage wide dynamic range IP cameras with built-in self-sustained video analytics to monitor the top hatches and service maintenance ladders, areas most vulnerable to sabotage.
