Arecont Vision's H.264 MegaDome cameras
 
   Arecont Vision has expanded its full line of H.264 cameras with the addition of the MegaDome series, integrating the camera, lens and housing into an all-in-one solution. Available in color or day/night versions and with 1.3M to 5 megapixel sensors, the dome cameras incorporate Arecont Vision's fully-compliant implementation of H.264 (MPEG 4, Part 10) compression that uses up to 10 times on average less bandwidth and storage compared to megapixel counterparts using MJPEG compression.
 
Features include: H.264 (MPEG 4, Part 10) compression, superior low light sensitivity, IP66 weatherproofing standard, and wall & pendant wall options.

Axis Meets Stringent Florida Regulations for Gaming Facilities
   Axis Communications announces that Tampa Bay Downs Inc. has installed its video encoders, enabling the track to exceed new state regulations for recording surveillance video at gaming facilities in a cost effective manner. Tampa Bay Downs is the only thoroughbred race track on the West Coast of Florida, and is known as one of America's oldest and most well-maintained race tracks. AXIS Q7406 Video Encoder Blades and AXIS Q7900 Racks have been installed for 60 of the track's existing analog cameras in The Silks Poker Room, which features daily poker tournaments on 30 tables.

DVTel Does It Again: The Advent of the Dynamic Workspace

Large Farm and Dairy Operation Uses OnSSI 
   RD Offutt Company of Fargo, ND, one of the largest farm and dairy operations in the United States, has implemented a NetDVMS networked video surveillance system from On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc. (OnSSI) to help watch over their operations. The company's Three Mile Canyon Farms/Castle Rock Farming, located about 150 miles east of Portland, OR, covers 93,000 acres and uses forward-looking green farming practices to produce potatoes and other crops. It is also home to one of the largest dairies in the United States, managed by Columbia River Dairy. OnSSI Certified Channel Partner, Dry Canyon Communications, based in Redmond, OR, assisted in the installation.
 
Panasonic's P-Tech Takes the Show on the Road
  Panasonic System Solutions Company's popular P-Tech Road Show exhibit and training event kicked off in Fort Lauderdale, FL on June 10. The free Panasonic Training University Road Shows will take place in approximately 25 locations across the U.S. over the next few months and will showcase Panasonic's newest technology solutions which feature advanced levels of systems performance and integration.

   ScanSource Security is offering a special financing opportunity on its Panasonic System Solutions products and services, which includes the company's industry-leading video surveillance, IP/networking, and IP remote monitoring solutions. Timesight Expands Global Reach
   Timesight Systems is partnering with Horner International and Alarmcorp to deliver award-winning IP technology. Horner International, based in the U.K., is a specialist consultancy that provides both management and system design services to a global security marketplace including some of the world's leading security manufacturers. Alarmcorp, based in Australia, is an expert in security products and systems that combines innovative and dependable technology with the highest levels of technical proficiency and client relationship management.
 
Sentry 360's Ultra-Compact Megapixel 360° Camera
 
   The high-resolution FullSight mini, the FS-IP1000 fom Sentry 360 is the smallest rugged 360-degree immersive camera designed for mobile applications such as buses, trains, police vehicles and emergency responders. This camera is also used in smaller room applications such as counting rooms, interrogation rooms, hallways, and lobbies. The FullSight IP is a ceiling- or wall-mounted digital video camera that lets you see, record and playback an entire 360° field-of-view.
 
IQinVision Receives Lenel Factory Certification for Interface
  IQinVision announces that the company has received Lenel factory certification for its interface to OnGuard 2008 and OnGuard 2008 Plus and is now a member of the Lenel OpenAccess Alliance Program. Users will have the flexibility to use the IQeye cameras to easily adjust image settings such as MJPEG quality, contrast/gamma, exposure, auto-gain, sharpness, and saturation via the OnGuard user interface. Other features such as on-camera motion detection and digital input/output triggers are also enabled.
 
 
Milestone Manages Vandalism in Danish Housing Technology 
   Residents and the Vollsmose's Hojstrup Housing Association voted unanimously for increased surveillance and the investment is paying off. It has resulted in a quantifiable decrease in episodes of vandalism. Milestone partner Atea implemented the new video surveillance solution of 120 cameras that are managed with Milestone Systems XProtect Enterprise IP video software. The solution is a network-based allowing multiple users to access the system simultaneously from different locations.
ioimage Video Analytics Protects $15 Million Worth of High-End Vehicles 
   ioimages' products have been installed at the Israeli sales and service center for Volvo, Honda and Jaguar in Rishon Lezion. The new surveillance system enables a 40% reduction in security guards at the 15,000 sqm site on the outskirts of Tel Aviv that houses the main sales office, spare parts warehouse and garage. In addition to traditional video surveillance operations, ioimage IP cameras with built in analytics monitor traffic flow to keep cars on schedule and control the number of vehicles in the garage at any one time.
Altronix is First with Mobile Marketing Promotion
 
   There was a new buzz going around at ISC West in Las Vegas this year. It was the sound of text messages containing winning Power Numbers for several lucky attendees who had enrolled in Altronix's text-to-win promotion, the first of its kind for the industry. One winner, Jill Yankow, walked away with a $150 Visa cash card from Altronix. "This was another intuitive idea from Altronix," she stated.
 
Housing Authority Relies on Brivo
    The New Albany (Indiana) Housing Authority (NAHA) has deployed Brivo ACS WebService in its three high-rise residence buildings, providing enhanced security for more than 330 housing units. Logical Innovations is the integrator for this ongoing installation. On any given day, there are more than 700 residents, staff, and guests passing through the doors to the three residential high-rise buildings. 
 
Genetec Launches Latest IP License Plate Recognition Solution
   Genetec releases the AutoVu 4.3 IP license plate recognition solution. In order to improve operational efficiency, AutoVu 4.3 offers new features and functionalities such as real-time alarming and email notification, color, sound and priority assignment to hotlists, covert hit notification, wildcard hotlists, permit sharing and long term overtime. "AutoVu is the ideal solution for the law and parking enforcement markets," says Manon Blouin, Product Manager of AutoVu IP License Plate Recognition Solution at Genetec.
 
Arecont Vision Launches Channel Partner Certification Program
   Arecont Vision has launched its Channel Partner Certification Program with the goal of instructing and certifying system integrators, distributors, architects, and engineers in the development of megapixel video surveillance solutions.

March Networks Protects Two Major South African Transportation Projects

NUUO at Merkur Casino
    With 24 branches in the Czech Republic, the Merkur Casino needs high-resolution video surveillance to avoid threats, including vandalism, attacks on staff, and theft. The casino required analog and IP cameras in an effort to provide security guards with clearer video images and to control the budget of installing a surveillance system. NUUO software is adopted by Viakom, the system integrator designing the surveillance system for Merkur Casino. Addressing the challenges of mixed analog and digital video content, NUUO offers an intelligent, flexible and scalable solution.

Mobotix Camera Impresses with a Double Frame Rate
   Mobotix presents the new Q24M hemispheric camera which replaces the Q22M model. Special features include a more powerful microprocessor and an optimized system platform attaining twice the image frame rate as before. In addition to a 3.1 megapixel color sensor, the hemispheric camera also includes an internal DVR.
 
Certification Requirements Lifted on Pelco Endura Encoders
   Pelco announces it has removed the Endura certification requirement for selling Endura NET5301T and NET5308T Encoders. Now, Pelco's line of Endura IP video encoders is also available for use with non-Endura recording and management devices. Good news for customers who want more choices for keeping their existing analog dome cameras while migrating to IP video transmission and recording, the NET5300-series of high performance encoders generate two streams of MPEG4 compressed video, each at up to 4CIF resolution and 30/25IPS, from each camera input.
 
Fluidmesh Appoints VP of North American Sales
   Fluidmesh Networks announces the appointment of Stan Schreyer to VP of North American Sales. Schreyer, a pioneer in the field of computer product sales, brings over 25 years of experience in building and managing sales teams. Prior to joining Fluidmesh, Schreyer most recently held positions of Vice President of Sales at Exinda Networks and Firetide Corporation.
 
Versatile Mini-Dome from Dallmeier
   The design of the new Dallmeier DDF3000A4-DN is a high-resolution UWDR Cam_inPIX color mini dome with dual mode UTP and BNC video output. The tri-axial gimbal adjustment allows for an easy and precise alignment of the camera. The DDF3000A4-DN can be operated with both 12V DC and 24V AC power supply. It features a horizontal resolution of 540 TV lines, enhanced noise suppression and ICR function for Day/Night switching. The image quality can be enhanced by means of numerous control functions such as AWB, AGC, BLC and extended slow shutter. The configuration is conveniently carried out via UTC commands.
 
Back by Popular Demand: Dunkel, Keynote for IP-in-Action LIVE Dallas
 
   Dan Dunkel will keynote the IP-in-Action LIVE Dallas Technical Forum on August 11, 2009 with a presentation titled, "How IP Convergence Transforms Security." This keynote presentation will provide an investigation of how technology convergence is transforming the deployment of physical and cyber security solutions to protect governments, businesses and individuals. His firm, New Era Associates, is a privately held consultancy specializing in sales strategy and business partner development between IT and physical security vendors and integrators. Dunkel is a frequent speaker at security trade shows, he writes a monthly print column for SDM magazine and contributes regularly to the on-line edition of Today's Systems Integrator, (TSI) an online publication of Security magazine.
