Susan BradyWelcome and Opening Remarks, Susan Brady - Managing Director, IP UserGroup USA
Speaker: Gary Slavin Security industry veteran for over 16 years in marketing, sales and product training and author of the book, “Plan Your Success: Turn Your Dreams into Reality.”
Presentation Title: Keynote Speaker "Can’t We All Just Get Along? How Physical Security and IT Work Together to Ensure Installation Success" - View Presentation
Gary SlavinDescription: Electronic security installations have become more intricate with the convergence of physical security and IT. Physical security data is migrating onto the corporate IP network necessitating the involvement of IT personnel in security system design and installation. Security and IT need to engage in an open dialogue with the end user prior to system design. Understanding project management practices, classic systems analysis and design, and using a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) will ensure you create and install a high quality system that meets or exceeds expectations, reaches completion within time and cost estimates and works effectively and efficiently. Join in to learn about a program that gives you the tools to bring all the parties involved in Security and IT to the same table.

Speaker: Matthew Dorey Southeast Territory Sales Manager, Milestone Systems
Presentation Title: "IP Tipping Point and the Open Platform" - View Presentation
Matthew DoreyDescription: When you see a disruptive technology entering an industry such as security, it creates an inflection point. Adding intelligence to IP video surveillance systems is accelerating change beyond the inflection point. In this presentation, Matt Dorey will explain how, today, we are beyond the inflection point with IP video solutions showing rapid growth and users looking for the additional advantages and functionality that a digital solution brings. An open platform, together with megapixel cameras and VCA are the drivers that can accelerate a positive change. Take part in an informative discussion of what an open platform is and what the benefits are of using an open platform.

Speaker: Tim Frederick - Director of Engineering, 3VR
Presentation Title: "The ROI on IP: Increasing the Bottom Line and Business Benefits in Distributed Retail Environments with IP Surveillance Technology" - View Presentation
Tim FrederickDescription: Within all the attention that IP convergence has received in the surveillance industry, one largely unexplored area is how emerging video technologies enable users to improve business outcomes and the bottom line. Opportunities abound in the Distributed Retail environment where IP video technologies can be a powerful tool not only for security and fraud prevention but also for customer and operations insight. With increased coverage and quality if IP video is married with analytics and correlation algorithms, video can be structured to both reduce costs and provide valuable information to increase customer revenue, making it easy to show ROI on an IP investment. This session describes how intelligent surveillance solutions create a more network-central approach, thus making video useful and usable, rather than merely the collection of unstructured footage. The key technology building blocks for a comprehensive Distributed Retail surveillance solution will be discussed along with how each of them contribute to the ROI for a typical retailer.

Speaker: Charles Foley - Chief Executive Officer, TimeSight Systems
Presentation Title: "The New Math: More Cameras + More Resolution + More Retention = Less Infrastructure" - View Presentation

Charles FoleyDescription:  The surveillance world has seen a number of key trends in recent years, including rising camera counts for better coverage, rapid rise in resolutions (due to technology commoditization) to give better video data, and ever-extending retention times due to regulatory or best-practice requirements. These factors have pushed storage of video surveillance data to becoming a dominant cost factor for the security professional. The result: tight budgets that have to accommodate more and more storage to simply get the job done.

This session will focus on technology approaches brought across from the information technology (IT) world to allow users to manage down the cost and infrastructure needed to support this growing amount of data from larger numbers of higher resolution cameras. Different approaches and technologies used to manage the lifecycle of video data will be reviewed, with the aim of providing tools to allow security professionals to reduce the cost of storing video data as that video ages and becomes less valuable to the business. Leveraged properly, these approaches to video data management can reduce storage requirements by 60 - 90%, allowing significant infrastructure reductions and budget re-allocation to other, high-return items such as increased camera coverage, analytics, and biometrics.

Speaker: Paul DiBerardino - Product Line Manager, March Networks
Presentation Title: "Browser Based IP Video Surveillance and why IT loves the Idea" - View Presentation
Paul DiBerardinoDescription: With all the recent advances in IP video, HD and Megapixel IP cameras one advancement still remains largely untouched when it comes to IP video surveillance management software and that is deploying an enterprise application within a standard internet web-browser.  Getting security managers to adapt to newer technologies within the video surveillance industry has been challenging but as more and more budgets for deploying IP based security video fall into the hands of the IT department why not target what IT managers really want.  Web based solutions are not new to IT however within IP video surveillance it’s been largely untouched. In this discussion IP video security industry veteran Paul DiBerardino talks about March Networks new enterprise browser based VMS called “Command” and why following the IT budget and religion is a great idea.

Presentation Title: "Campus Security & Secured Parking with IP Cameras and Industrial Networking" - View Presentation
Description: Facilities monitoring, student and faculty safety are key incentives to providing security and surveillance in a campus environment. IP cameras are an easy and efficient way of deploying surveillance systems into an existing Ethernet network, particularly where a fiber backbone already exists. Also, the use of industrial networking equipment with PoE means that installation costs can be minimized; network equipment no longer needs to be installed in controlled temperature or environmental buildings or enclosures and savings in reduced cabling for camera power.  This paper will detail such an installation at a Florida college, from design principals through installation and system acceptance.

Speaker: Chris Sessa - Director of Sales of Eastern North America, Arecont Vision
Presentation Title: "Demystifying High Definition Video" - View Presentation
John BujarskiDescription: With megapixel being the buzz of the industry and quickly becoming the new standard of the IP video industry, you may be wondering: What is megapixel and what is HD? Why are some of the world’s largest corporations deciding to implement megapixel rollouts to all of their locations for all applications? Who , What, Where, Why and How…This session will cover the differences relative to Megapixel resolution, and  HD resolution. The ROI that can be generated from using megapixel cameras when it comes to the cost of the overall system deployment and infrastructure and performance. Also how megapixel cameras are being implementing for all applications.
