Susan Brady9:20 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.  Welcome and Opening Remarks, Susan Brady - Managing Director, IP UserGroup USA
9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Keynote Speaker: Dan O'Neill - President, Applied Risk Management (ARM)
Presentation Title: Opening Keynote "Today's Successful Apprehensions Balance Openness and Security"
Dan O'NeillDescription: Dan O'Neill will be discussing Occupancy Assurance. This is a new physical security concept recently developed by Applied Risk Management that has been successfully deployed at colleges, universities, hospitals, hotels, airports and other environments. Occupancy Assurance is having the ability to balance openness and security while knowing who is in your facility at all times. Real world high profile murder cases that were significantly aided by the concept of occupancy assurance will be discussed. These cases include the Boston Craig's List Killer, the Yale University Graduate Research Student Murder and the cases against Jordan van der Sloot who is suspected of murdering Natalie Holloway in Aruba and Stephany Florez in Peru. This new concept is changing the way IP Camera systems and other security assets are deployed and managed.

10:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Speaker: Tim Russell - Director, Honeywell Video Systems
Presentation Title: A Successful IP Deployment: "Understanding IP Systems Design"
Tim RussellDescription: IP can provide many potential benefits such as ease of deployment, reduced burden on infrastructure and increased issue resolution. However, a successful migration to IP requires careful consideration of all system needs. IP cameras can add great value to a video system, but users must consider the fine points of how the pieces work together.

This presentation details factors to consider when applying IP technology, including:

   * Where and how to best deploy IP, HD & megapixel cameras.
   * Ensuring the best cabling infrastructure to support current and future technologies.
   * Addressing latency and failover.
   * Designing an IP video system that considers bandwidth limitations, POE and camera technology.

11:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Coffee Break with Exhibits Open

11:15 a.m. - Noon Speaker: Charles Foley - Chief Executive Officer, TimeSight Systems
Presentation Title: IP Solutions: "The New Math: More Cameras + More Resolution + More Retention = Less Infrastructure"
Charles FoleyDescription: The surveillance world has seen a number of key trends in recent years, including rising camera counts for better coverage, rapid rise in resolutions (due to technology commoditization) to give better video data, and ever-extending retention times due to regulatory or best-practice requirements. These factors have pushed storage of video surveillance data to becoming a dominant cost factor for the security professional. The result: tight budgets that have to accommodate more and more storage to simply get the job done.

This session will focus on technology approaches brought across from the information technology (IT) world to allow users to manage down the cost and infrastructure needed to support this growing amount of data from larger numbers of higher resolution cameras. Different approaches and technologies used to manage the lifecycle of video data will be reviewed, with the aim of providing tools to allow security professionals to reduce the cost of storing video data as that video ages and becomes less valuable to the business. Leveraged properly, these approaches to video data management can reduce storage requirements by 60 - 90%, allowing significant infrastructure reductions and budget re-allocation to other, high-return items such as increased camera coverage, analytics, and biometrics.

Noon - 12:45 p.m. Lunch with Exhibits Open

12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Speaker: Brian Levicky - Northeast Sales Engineer, Genetec
Presentation Title: System Integration: "The Unified Security Interface"
Description: With the increasing demand for high-end system features and disparate equipment integrations, tremendous effort has been made to develop the core functionality of security systems. But have user interfaces really been designed to support those advancements?

In this presentation, we will go over the importance of proper ergonomics and how the discoverability of a user interface will enhance and simplify the user experience. We will explore how features such as video analytics (whether central or edge-based) can be simplified and integrated into the user interface, offering security operators greater efficiency and ease when using and configuring such systems.

We will also examine how user interfaces can become more intelligent without necessarily becoming more complex, and how the simplification of a user interface will increase the overall productivity of security operators without augmenting their workload. We will conclude by looking at the evolution path of security systems? user interfaces and the upcoming trends in methods of simplification.

1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. Speaker: Mark Gally - VP of Marketing, VideoIQ
Presentation Title: Advancements in Video Surveillance: "Megapixel Analytics"
Mark GallyDescription: All surveillance cameras look, but how many actually see what's going on? Hear, how for the cost of a conventional IP or HD camera, integrators are now able to deploy a proactive surveillance system that allows them to rapidly assess and mitigate security threats before incidents occur, delivering the highest degree of real-time threat detection accuracy while simplifying installation.

During this session learn about the latest advancements in video surveillance including:

  • Zero bandwidth recording at up to 1080p/30fps resolution.
  • Megapixel analytics.
  • Automatic digital PTZ zoom and track.
  • Real-world implementations across various organizations that have maximized surveillance investments.
2:15 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Speaker: Adam Messina - Regional Sales Manager, OnSSI
Case Study: Massachusetts Convention Center Authority's IP Video Management Control Solution
Description: The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) is enhancing security operations and public safety with intelligent digital IP video solutions from On-Net Surveillance Systems (OnSSI). The project is spearheaded by BCM Controls Corp. The IP Video Management Systems enables MCCA’s security team to watch over its multiple high profile public venues. MCCA owns and oversees operations of the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA and the Boston Garage. The newly installed video management system encompasses all of these facilities.
